I used to flex, but I just ended up playing healer every game. It was tiring and it wouldn't help any if the team was bad. I eventually made a flowchart to at least ensure I play other characters occasionally:

Does the team have a healer?
Yes (Go to A)
No (Go to B)

A - Does the team have a tank?
Yes (Go to C)
No (Go to D)

C - Pick a tank for two tanks. There's no point in being the sole tank, you'll just take all the damage and die quickly anyway.

D - Pick a healer for double heals. If the other one switches off, then switch, you're not grouped with team players.

B - Is the team comp at least okayish? (ie, no snipers)
Yes (Go to E)
No (Go to F)

E - Pick Sombra and hack the health packs. There'll be SOME healing, and at least I'll have fun.

F - Fuck 'em, pick whoever I feel like. Let's all go down in flames. This happens most often, so I get to have some fun.

I crafted some of the higher-level elemental bows and now I feel like the destroyer of worlds whenever I attack on monster's weaknesses.

Okay, I get that Nergigante is supposed to be hard, I've gotten OHKO'd by him too, but if you die twice in one mission maybe you that one out. Twice I've had a mission failed because of one person dying all three times.
